Lyrics

We printed off a larger and smaller version of the lyrics for the singer of our video so he would be able to read them before and during filming. We thought that this would be a good idea as we will be sure that the singer will not forget his lyrics and we will be able to get the best quality singing and lip syncing.

Fonts

These are four different fonts that I could possibly use for my digipak and advert. I think I am going to use font 4 (bottom) as I feel as it looks the best and it fits in most with my genre.

Digipak Inspiration Research

The album cover on the left is the album that has the song we are doing our music video to on. I am going to take some inspiration from this on my digipak as it is a very simplistic design and I like the colour on the outside boarder. I have also found this other album (right) by Arctic Monkeys with a very similar colour and a simplistic look. I like this design a lot as it is almost exactly like what I want my digipak and advert to look.

Colour Pallets

For my digipak I want a good colour pallet with good bold colours that do not clash and are able to catch readers eyes without it being too much. I looked at different colours and combinations to see what I liked and what looked good.
Black on Yellow
Red on White
Black on White
 Blue on White
Yellow on Red
Black on Orange
Green on Red
Orange on Blue
Red on Orange
Green on Yellow
For my digipak I want to go with white and black on it for sure because they are the best colours to use for text and background because they are completely different and do not clash at all so it will be easy to read and view.

Camera Shots

Close Up
  • In the close up shot, a certain feature or part of the subject takes up most of the frame.
  • Close-ups are useful for showing detail and can also be used as a cut-in.
Extreme Close Up
  • The ECU gets right in and shows extreme detail.
  •  It is too close to show general reactions or emotion except in very dramatic scenes.
High Angle
  •  A high angle shot is usually when the camera angle is located above the eye line.
  • High angle shots also make the figure or object seem vulnerable or powerless. They are also usually used in film to make the moment more dramatic or if there is someone at a high level that the character below is talking to.
Mid Angle

  • The mid shot shows some part of the subject in more detail, whilst still showing enough for the audience to feel as if they were looking at the whole subject.
  • The shot is appropriate when the subject is speaking without too much emotion or intense concentration. It also works well when the intent is to deliver information, which is why it is frequently used by television news presenters.
Low Angle
  • A low angle shot, is a shot from a camera angle positioned low on the vertical axis, anywhere below the eye line, looking up.
  • The shot is used to make an object or person seem bigger/taller. Often used to make things more dominant and create a more intimidating feel.
Tracking Shot
  • The term tracking shot may refer to a shot in which the camera is mounted on a camera dolly, a wheeled platform that is pushed on rails while the picture is being taken.
  • The camera could follow a subject within the frame, such as a moving actor or a moving vehicle.

Pan Shot
  • Panning refers to the rotation in a horizontal plane of a still camera or video camera.
  • Usually used to show a moving thing or show the whole environment/place in one so that the viewer gets a feel of what its like.
For our video we are most likely going to use mid angle, high angle and close up shots. This is because all of the focus will be able to be on the band playing and it will be easy to show the concept of what we want to be shown and seen on screen. Also, the separate shots will not be moving as it will not fit in with the genre of our music video so these shots are most appropriate with our idea.

Minimalism

I have all chosen to follow in the footsteps of Dieter Rams when designing our Digipak , we feel a minimalistic approach will suit our artist , with a simple , elegant , graceful design similar to The XX album and Arctic Monkeys Suck it and See.

I will also use this for my digipak and advert as I feel as the idea of a simple design is the most effective on an audience as it is the most eye-catching and puts across the information that needs to be read.

Album covers I Like

I am going to take inspiration from these different album covers in many different ways. A lot of them are plain simple ideas with minimal features where there is not much to it but has a big affect on the audience.
